Creating a paid membership program in 360Alumni

Use Memberships to sell and manage paid membership programs in your 360Alumni community. You can create membership types, set renewal terms and pricing, and manage enrollments from one place.

Turn on Memberships

  1. Go to Admin > Customize > Features.
  2. Turn on the Memberships feature.
  3. From the Admin menu in the main navigation, go to Memberships.

Add membership page details

Add content that explains the value of your membership program before creating membership types.

  1. In Memberships, add a description for your membership page.
  2. Add media as needed. You can include images, YouTube or Vimeo videos, files, and links.
  3. Save your changes.

Create membership types

Create a type for each membership option you offer, such as annual, monthly, chapter-specific, or lifetime membership.

  1. Go to Memberships > Types.
  2. Select + Type.
  3. Enter a name for the membership type.
  4. Optional: Choose a symbol to display next to the names of members with an active membership of this type.
  5. Add a short description and a full description.
  6. Set the membership term:
    • Renew based on the member's join date, monthly or annually.
    • Renew annually on a specific date.
    • Set the membership as Lifetime so it does not expire.
  7. Set the price.
  8. Activate the membership type.
  9. Select Create.

You can rearrange membership types to control the order in which they appear on the user-facing membership page. You can also copy the link for an individual membership type to help chapters promote enrollment and renewals within their Groups.

Understand renewals and member notifications

Auto-renewal is selected by default when a member enrolls. Members can turn off auto-renewal at any time. All members receive a confirmation when they enroll.

Members using auto-renewal receive a notification 7 days before renewal.  If auto-renewal fails (i.e. due to an expired or invalid card on file) a notification will be sent to the member.

Members who are not enrolled in auto-renewal receive a notification:

  • 14 days before the end of their membership
  • 7 days before the end of their membership
  • 3 days before the end of their membership
  • The day their membership expires

Manage memberships

The Memberships table lists all member enrollments. Use filters to find the records you need:

  • Status: Active, upcoming, ended, or canceled memberships.
  • Renewal: Successful renewals (Renewal Healthy) or automatic renewals with failed payments.
  • Enrollment: New memberships or renewals.

Add members to a list

Use membership filters to build Static Lists for outreach and alumni database management.

  1. Select the checkboxes next to the members you want to include.
  2. Add them to an existing list, or create a new list.

View or update an individual membership

  1. Find the member in the Memberships table.
  2. Open the more options menu (⋮) on the right side of the membership record.
  3. Choose the action you need:
    • View membership history
    • Edit the membership
    • Renew the membership
    • Cancel the membership

When an administrator cancels a membership, it ends immediately. You can choose no refund, a full refund, or a prorated refund based on the unused portion of the membership term.

When a member cancels their own membership, it remains active until the end of its original term.

Add a member manually

Use Add Member to enroll someone who paid offline, already has a membership that needs to be recorded, or should receive a complimentary membership.

  1. Go to Memberships.
  2. Select Add Member.
  3. Choose the member and membership type.
  4. Enter the applicable membership details.
  5. Save the enrollment.
